E1432 Arb Source ROM Recovery Service Procedure

This procedure is used when the standard method of programming the
arbsource flash ROM (see /opt/e1432/arbsrc/README) fails.
This failure could occur if a firmware updating process was
interrupted before completion.

The standard firmware update process loads the bootup and programming
routines from the ROM, then erases and reprograms the system portion
of the ROM. If this process is interrupted, the system portion
the ROM could be invalid, preventing proper operation or ROM programing.
This recovery procedure downloads these routines, and does not need valid
routines in the system area of the ROM.

The portion of the flash ROM that contains essential factory settings
is not erased or reprogrammed by either procedure. These settings can
only be programmed at the factory.

This process uses hwblkio programs which use a configuration file
called ".hwiorc" to specify things like the VXI logical address of the
E143x module. An example .hwiorc file is provided in the current
directory; this file should be copied to your home directory. Also
see the manual page for hwblkio.

###

Procedure for optional abitrary single channel source daughter
board (E1432/33/34).

1. POWER OFF

2. Set logical address configuration switch to LA 8.

3. Move source board boot jumper to HPORT position.

The jumper is located on the source board across from the logical
address configuration switch. It is black plastic.

Looking at the top of the module there are 3 pins (unlabeled):

                        1 2 3 | (rear of module)
                        . . . | VXI connectors
    -----------------------------------|

    Source board boot jumper positions:

ROM (normal setting) 1 and 2 are jumpered
HPORT (service setting) 2 and 3 are jumpered

4. Install module in VXI Mainframe and turn POWER ON.

5. Change to /opt/e1432/arbsrc/ directory, and execute srchpprog.

6. After srchpprog is completed, turn the POWER OFF.

7. Move source board boot jumper to ROM position.

8. Install module in VXI Mainframe and turn POWER ON.

9. From /opt/e1432/arbsrc execute srcutil confirming the restored
    source ROM revision date.

###

Procedure for E1434 2 channel abitrary source SCA.

See Manual for disassembly procedure to access jumper on each E1434
2 channel abitrary source SCA.

1. POWER OFF

2. Set logical address configuration switch to LA 8.

3. Disassembly module to gain access to source boot jumper
   (see E1434 Users Guide).

4. Move source SCA boot jumper to HPORT position (not ROM position).

5. Reassemble SCAs and fasten each with at least one screw to
   substrate board.

6. Install module in VXI Mainframe and turn POWER ON.

7. Change to /opt/e1432/arbsrc/ directory, execute srchpprog0 to
   reprogram SCA 0 (E1434 channels 1 and 2), and execute srchpprog2
   to reprogram SCA 2 (E1434 channels 3 and 4).

8. After srchpprog0 and/or srchpprog2 are completed, turn the POWER OFF.

9. Disassembly module to gain access to jumpers (see Manual).

10. Move source SCA boot jumper to ROM position.

11. Reassemble E1432 completely.

12. Install module in VXI Mainframe and turn POWER ON.

13. From /opt/e1432/arbsrc execute srcutil confirming the restored
    source ROM revision date.
